Female Infant found dead in the gap of the crib

A eight months female infant was found dead at a flat located in Yau Tong. The infant rolled into the gap of the crib when sleeping and no one realised. After the parents found her in a coma, rescued her and called the police; however, the infant was already dead.

Points to be caution :
  1. A professional and responsible interior design company and contractor will not only provide excellent service and product, but will pay careful attention to every piece of furniture and check its quality to prevent any incidents.
  2. When parents are selecting a baby crib, they focus on its safety and durability.
  3. We recommend baby cribs made from E1 wood material. To prevent the infant from inhaling high amounts of organic chemicals and formaldehyde, lead-free paint can be used for painting.
  4. Before the infant is 3 years old, a fence around the crib should be added to prevent the infant from flipping over during sleep. However, the fence must not have a huge gap because it will cause the infant's head and hands to get stuck. At the same time, we recommend parents to use a safely lock to secure the fence and refrain using ropes as it poses a threat for the infant.
  5. Parents can adjust the fence according to the age of the infant: 2 years old and under: installing a fence on a baby crib to ensure safety; 3-4 years old: change to fence that has more space to prevent the infant from rolling off the crib; 5 years old and up: can train their independence by removing the fence.
  6. There are some baby cribs that have installations on all four sides of the bed to strengthen stability. This can prevent the crib from falling over.
  7. The mattress has to be a perfect fit for the crib and should not leave a “2 finger” gap to prevent any incidents from occurring.
  8. Do not place too much toys on the bed like stuffed animals to avoid the infant from asphyxia.
  9. Parents should always take care of their child to avoid any incidents.
