GSH flat owners face pressure in vacating their current flat before the deadline amid the pandemic, yet their GSH flat is not ready for move-in

It is one of the goals for most Hongkongers to become residential owner. However, the cover story of the Scoop Programme on 31 March 2022 revealed the Green Form Subsidised Home Ownership Scheme (“GSH”) flats owners’ dilemma of vacating their current flat before the official deadline where they will need to pay the rent in triple if they failed to meet the deadline. Currently, some GSH flats are not ready for owners to move in as renovation progress is delayed due to the service disruption in both the renovation and design and transportation companies amid the pandemic. These helpless owners are now stressed and could be homeless soon.
Design Information Centre would like to remind everyone :
- DIC is here to remind you of the delay in renovation work progress during peak season, such as year-end, and also the further delay due to other extraordinary circumstances, such as the pandemic. Owners are suggested to plan if they wish to renovate their flat during these times: try to plan a schedule, understand your needs and research thoroughly on potential company’s background, rating and service reviews. It’s better to choose reputable companies to minimize unwanted issues rather than being tempted to cut corners for a seemingly cheap deal as it might cost you even more during the course which may lead up to a few times higher costs than what was agreed. It’s not worth losing a great deal through trying to save a little.
- Understand the contract terms and performance pledges before construction, enter into a clear and definite agreement, including the construction items and total expenditure, list out the payment method and process, and sign to confirm by mutual consent.
- During the fitting out, additional items should commence upon an agreement of additional items is signed by mutual consent, contents and prices are agreed by both parties.
All members in DIC adhere to the company culture and follow strictly to the ISO standards (QMS, EnMS and OHSCS ), guidelines, management and auditing processes. We strive to ensure that our works are carried out with due care and are of high quality. DIC also provides comprehensive maintenance services as we care about the needs of our customers and wish to assure them with confidence in us.
