Careful choosing a renovation company and with the occupational safety

Concerning a worker injured due to concrete spalling removing the wall recently, Design Information Centre suggests that public should be careful choosing a renovation company and with the occupational safety. Speed should not be valued prior to safety and protection to property.
Reminders：
  1. When choosing a renovation company, a professional and reliable company should be chose to safeguard owner’s interest.
  2. To prevent a breach of law, only minor works contractors registered in Buildings Department can be hired to carry out work under regulation.
  3. If owners hire unregistered contractors to perform the 126 items of building works included in Minor Works Control System, the insurt ance company may not compensate regarding laws are breached even though the owner has procured related insurance before the work started. Owners may also be liable for such claim and compensation. Thus, owners should be careful not to make such a tiny mistake incurring great loss.
  4. A professional and large-scaled company should equip its staff members with guidelines. Workers working at external walls or dangerous places shall put on safety equipment such as safety belts and helmets. Besides, only individuals acquired training and being experienced can participate in such work.
  5. If possible, it will be more appropriate using company accredited the ISO International Certification as their worker are required to go through professional trainings and work by the ISO standards.
  6. A responsible and well-managed interior design and renovation company shall clearly explain the project items, the duration and date of the work and company information via announcement when the work is in progress. Thus, public interest can be safeguarded and accidents can be prevented.
  7. The renovation company must conduct a risk evaluation.
  8. Where any work is in progress, every workers or mentors have to comply with the regulations strictly so as to protect the safety and interest of any parties.
  9. Owners should procure third party liability insurance for the flat since owners bound to be the first and the last claimed after if any accidents happen within the flat.

Without the insurance cover and structural warranty, it will be hard to keep the engineering quality and also an incomplete project will appeared🤯, and client may carry unnecessary loss. 💸
