Copper Pipes and Electrical Wires Stolen from 2 renovating flats

Two renovating flats located in Kowloon City were broken into yesterday. Renovating tools, copper pipes and electrical wires totaling to a value of $26,000HKD was stolen. The police are investigating if the offender is the same for both cases.

The first case happened at a Taiwanese restaurant in Nam Lok Road. The flat is currently renovating. Yesterday morning, when workers went to the site, they found out that a bunch of copper pipes and electrical wires were gone. They suspected that the thief broke in by climbing the water pipe. They immediately contacted the police.

After further investigation, the police found out that another flat within 200 meters was also broken into. When a construction worker came back to work yesterday morning, they saw the door was locked and the key on top of the doorbell box was gone. They kicked open the door and found out they had lost electrical drills, dipstick, and electrical wires totaling to $6000HKD. The Kowloon City Police Force is under investigation of both cases.

Points to be caution：
  1. Be a smart consumer, should choose a historical, great goodwill and branding design company. You also should do some research before you make the decision. Don't only trust the information from advertisement.
  2. Professional comapany should have staff guideline to protect the owner’s flat and tools, workers should carry the keys to the flat to prevent break-ins and vandalism.
  3. Immediately contact the police if belongings are stolen or sabotaged.
  4. Workers are to close all doors and windows when no one is in the flat. Steel wires can be used to wrap the windows to prevent break-ins when needed.
  5. Request frequent patrols from department's security.
