Overpass's cement lining fell and almost flattened minibus

Minor Works Control System has been fully in effect since 31 December in 2010. According to the Building ( Minor Works) Regulation, If owners hire unregistered contractors to perform the 126 items of building works included in Minor Works Control System, owners may incur liability. Besides, owners may also be charged and bear any possible damages if any accidents arise. It is never worth doing so and hence choosing a registered contractor would just be your best choice.

Cement lining about 12 meters long suddenly fell from a pedestrian overpass which was in repair. The cement lining almost fell onto a minibus. The scene was prohibited and a thorough check up was done to make sure if there are anymore cement lining.

Points to be caution :
  1. Property owners are susceptible to a fine up to $100,000HKD when they hire non-licensed contractors and non-licensed contractors may be subjected to imprisonment of 18 months and a fine up to $500,000HKD.
  2. A qualified and responsible interior design company will purchase related insurance like third party liability, labor, and builder's risk insurance to maximize protection.
  3. Property owners should purchase related insurance themselves.
  4. A responsible company must build a shelter and cover it when doing outside wall construction to protect the public.
  5. A qualified company would employ qualifies and licensed workers for any construction work and provide regular training so that they can get updated knowledge.
  6. Before any work is done, a responsible company must check and ensure everything is installed properly so that work will be smooth and to protect workers' safety.
  7. During work, every material and tool must be placed and handled properly. To prevent any accidents, garbage must be handled with care and not be placed anywhere.
