兒童睡房 Children's Bedroom

小朋友睡房，通常會用上鮮色家具，令觀感活潑一點。然而，設計師陳禮善說，太過孩子氣的設計，只適合10歲以下小朋友，踏入少年期的一群，對這類大對比色彩組合，容易反感。所以對兒童房的設計，與其追求耐用，倒不如尋找一殺那喜悅，可能更加實際。兒童房設計首要有鮮明的路向，陳禮善說，過往十多年都是用同一理念，就是「想小朋友所想。」將小朋友至愛的卡通與漫畫人物填滿整個房間，是兒童房的典型模樣。另外，主題式設計亦是佈置兒童房另一常用技巧，如果小朋友對某種交通工具特別有興趣，如雙層巴士，順利成章可以佈置一個「巴士主題房」。除了外觀，兒童房更重要是安全問題。這方面從設計佈局、用料﹑以至兒童睡房的家具設計及顏料使用都非常嚴謹，為人父母不可忽略。*** ( 詳情可參考選用板材須知列表 )

Children bedrooms are usually furnished with bright-colored furniture items to promote lively and creative perception. However, our Design Director Mr. Kevin Chan thinks that childish motif is only suitable for the age of 10, when our children turn into the juvenile period, they will find this group of contrasting color combinations disgusting. Therefore he feels that it is more practical to look for pure enjoyment for the children than the pursuit of durability in design. Primary concern for the design of children's room is to have a distinctive direction, Mr. Kevin Chan said that in the past decade people are following the same philosophy, that is "to think like our children". Therefore, many designers are fond of using children’s favorite cartoon and comic book character to fill up the entire room, that is a typical trend in the design of children's room. Besides, it is a common technique to use a theme design for the layout of the children's room. if the children are particularly interested in some kind of transportation device, such as double-decker bus, the whole room will be arranged in the theme of a "bus". In addition to appearance, safety is very important. As regard to the design layout, there are stringent safety standards on the materials used, as well as children's bedroom furniture design and the use of paint. The parents should not ignore or overlook these standards.

選用漫畫作題材，要小心知識產權問題，設計師通常會利用顏色、形狀以至造型上的適量「變化、變形」技巧解決。 
When we select comics for subject matter, we should pay attention to intellectual property issues, designers often modify the shape and style or change the colour scheme considerably to solve the problem.

除了卡通人物，將大小太陽花化身床欄、櫃門，亦可令平平無奇的睡房變成小朋友天地。
In addition to the cartoon characters, we may used the sized sunflowers embodiment for the bed rails and doors, these motives will turn the ordinary room into a comfortable children world.

很多男孩喜歡玩具車，雙層巴士高架床正合小孩子心意，兼具子母床功能。
A lot of boys like toy cars, the bunk bed in the form of double-decker bus coincides with the children’s preference, it also serves the function of cluster bed.

由於小朋友家具分拆組件較多，因此家具出廠、運輸以至組裝上錯誤率亦會提高，間接增加成本。
As there are many complicated components in children furniture,therefore the shipping cost will be increased in terms of transportation. Since there are also a high error rate in the assembly of children furniture, the overall cost will be increased indirectly.

陳禮善說，兒童睡房家具的用料特別講究，故裝修成本，可佔全屋裝修費四份之一以至一半。 
Kevin stated that we should pay special attention to the choice of children room furniture materials, therefore the renovation costs of the children room alone can be accounted for one-fourth as well as half of the whole construction cost.

設計 Design

兒童房最傳統設計離不開卡通、漫畫主題，還有純粹天馬行空的幻想世界意念。不過，陳禮善說，最重要是依據小朋友個人喜好。雖然設計師已脫離看卡通睇漫畫的年紀，但亦會經常留意坊間時興的流行動漫產物，當設計小童睡房時，將有關動漫型象融入設計中，不至落伍過時。

陳禮善提醒家長，在選用動漫題材時，要懂靈活，因肖像版權畢竟仍是牽涉到實際法律，設計師通常會善用「變化」原理去「活用」小朋友的喜好，最常見是利用顏色、形狀以至造型上的適量「變化、變形」技巧。

The most traditional designs of the children's room are usually based on cartoons figures and comic themes, as well as the purely abstract world of fantasy ideas. However, Kevin Chan said that the most important basis is to follow children’s personal preference. Although the designer has been away from the age of watching cartoons and comics, he will often pay attention to the printing of popular cartoon figures on fashionable interior product, when designing your children bedroom, it is important to introduce the most updated animation types as to keep in pace with the trends.

Kevin would also like to remind parents that the selection of cartoon themes should be flexible, we should pay attention to the portrait copyright, after all, it is still bound by the actual law, the designer will usually make the best use of the principle of "change" to "utilize" the children's preferences, the most common technique is the change of color and shape, with the right amount of "change, the figures could be transformed successfully without infringing any IP laws.

設計師 Designer

陳禮善說，設計兒童睡房有一個宗旨是必須遵守的，就是如何異想天開的主題構思，都緊記不要過份天馬行空，例如想以遊樂場作主題，滑梯、繩網、鋼架等堆滿一室，對於小朋友而言，這種設計已不是開心而是危機處處。
Kevin chan also stated that there is a principle for us to follow in the design of children room, that is, no matter how creative it is, it should not be over abstract, we should pay attention to safety regulations. For example, we may use ‘playground’ as a theme, then we may introduce a lot of elements like slides, rope course and steel frame structures, thus creating crisis for our children everywhere in the room.

他說，有時自創卡通Q版圖案，如將一個燈掣不合比例地放大，變成凳仔甚至書檯，或用手繪圖案裝飾衣櫃、睡床及書檯，表達歐陸童話色彩主題等，都可以令一間普通的睡房變成小朋友天地。
He started that sometimes it is good to create cartoon pattern of Q version, such as a light switches out of proportion to zoom into the stool and desks, or to design a hand-painted decorative wardrobes, beds and desks, the expression of the European fairy tale color theme, can make an ordinary bedroom into a kids world.

小朋友睡房裝修成本，可以佔全屋裝修費的四分之一以至一半，主要是家具的用料特別講究，其次是分拆組件較多，但凡牽涉到組件多的家具，出廠、運輸以至組裝上的錯誤率亦會提高，間接增加成本。
The decoration costs of children bedroom could be more than a quarter or even a half of the whole construction cost, the main materials of the furniture, especially when many split components are involved, when it comes to the more complicated components of furniture, factory delivery, transportation, the error rate on the assembly will also increase, thus indirectly increasing the cost.

一間約80方呎的小朋友睡房，基本裝修連用料約1.5萬元，全套家具連設計約2.5萬至3萬元。若果真的希望小朋友睡房裝修能夠耐用點，可要求更多的拆裝式設計，如何以拆卸的卡通牆飾板或櫃門等，不過，這類設計一方面有潛在危險性，二來任何裝修都會老化，十年八年後變身時可能要徹底翻新，當初的耐用慳錢出發點，可能不再實際。
For a children bedroom of about 80 sq. ft., the basic fittings including materials will cost about HKD15,000. For a set of furniture fully furnished including design fees will be around HKD25,000 to HKD30,000. lion, fully furnished with design about 25000-30000 yuan. Girl’s bedroom with princess castle theme is the most common, we have to avoid sharp and steeple edges and corners in this type of design (as shown in red) . Pointed towers or parts should be placed at the top of the bed frame where children are unlikely to reach.

這類圍欄較低的高架床，只適合年紀大一點、有一定自制能力的小童。
Elevated bed with fence is only suitable for older children with a certain degree of self-restraint.

年長一點的孩子，若仍然接受鮮色家具，可用大花圖案點綴櫃門，但要留意鮮色漆油所含重金屬可能較高。
For older children who are still accepting fresh-color furniture, we can introduce large floral pattern embellished doors, but we have to bear in mind that the fresh color paints may contain more heavy metals.

安全 Security

對於兒童睡房，安全至為重要，設計上應盡量減少暗格、移動性部件、金屬構造。揀選家具時，首選不帶銳利邊角，並無附設細小配件的塑料家具，最好是圓角及少階梯的設計。
To the children's bedroom, security is of prime importance, we should minimize the dark cells and moving parts as well as metal construction. In the selection of furniture, there should not be any sharp edges and small parts of plastic furniture, the best design will be those of rounded corners and less ladder structure.

細微的外加配件方面，可以考慮多用附有防滑底墊的地毯，在睡床樓梯及房門加置安全欄等。另外，牆身電掣插頭更應加上安全蓋，防止小孩把手指放進插頭內。
For additional small accessories, we can consider the multi-purpose carpet with non-slip floor mats, plus home security bar for the bed, the stairs and the door. In addition, the plug fittings on the wall should be provided with safety covers to prevent children from putting fingers into the plugs.

物料 Materials

兒童房的顏色以用料，建議客戶加補差價轉用合符國際安全標準的物料，以木器家具或油漆為例，須留意產品會否放甲醛，此物質會破壞以及刺激呼吸系統。
Pigments and materials for children room should meet international safety standards, for example, wood furniture or paint should not release formaldehyde, this substance will damage and stimulate the respiratory system.

家長亦可補差價選用不含有機化合物 (VOC )，即甲醛﹑重金屬以及有毒帛稀釋劑的物料，便不會散發有害以及污染空氣的氣體。*** ( 詳情可參考選用建材須知列表 )
Parents can choose materials without organic compounds (VOCs) (.g. formaldehyde, heavy metals and toxic materials thinner) which will not emit harmful air pollution gases.

另外，兒童房的地面亦很講究，地磚冰冷，而且小朋友跌倒會很痛；地毯則容易藏污納垢，可考慮用時興的無終縫地板，容易打理，表面又沒有光油，亦很少含有化學物質。
In addition, the floor finish of children room should be very well selected, ceramic tiles may be too cold for them to step on, besides, it will be painful to fall down. Whereas carpet flooring will trap dirt etc. We can consider using fashionable seamless floor, it is easy to clean, no varnish, no chemical substances.

衣櫃旁手繪南瓜車圖案，充滿小女孩味道，顏料應選擇不含重金屬、有毒稀釋劑的物料及符合國際標準甲醛含量。
 The hand-painted pumpkin car patterns next to the closet are full of girlish flavour, it is important to select material which does not contain formaldehyde, heavy metals and toxic diluent.

起角的船形睡床(紅圈示)、窗台裝飾、過矮的床上瞭望台裝飾，中看不中用，可說是「反面」示範。
Windowsill decoration and low bed with a decorative spectator gallery are poor examples of unnecessary and dangerous decorative items.

高架床可盡用空間，但留意樓梯位要夠闊落及加扶手，家長大可利用樓梯作儲物抽屜。
 Loft beds can make full use of space, but watch out for the staircase areas, there should be enough width to accommodate handrails and the stairs will be a good storage/drawer area for the parents.
