Despite the fact that the residential space is just big enough for the couple, the property owner still insist on displaying his action figure collection in his tiny living space. Fortunately, since neither of the property owners love to cook at home, the designer can transform the space originally intended for the dinning room into an exhibition hall.
Penetrating Toy Store
Toy house or residential space? Upon entering an apartment located at the Tung Fung House of Kowloon City, the first thing that catch our eyes is the large glass cabinet which displays numerous action figures in an orderly fashion. It feels as if we are walking into a toy store. Designer Gloria explains that since the male property owner loves to collect action figures, he decides to install a large glass cabinet at the specific space originally intended for the dinning room. “Since the cabinet is entirely made from glass without any partition added to obstruct the vision, a visual extension effect is created.” After pulling out a flat plate from one of the cabinet drawers, a dinning table appears right before our eyes. “Since the property owner rarely cook at home, they do not need a real dinning table. A concealing dinning table is a better option for the couple.” To make space for the large glass cabinet, some wall partitions need to be demolished or remodified. For example, space for the storeroom is greatly reduced to make space for the open kitchen.

A shoe rack placed right next to the front door is large enough for the couple to store their shoes.
Adjust Partition to Increase Space
While the living room is mainly designed for the male property owner, the bedroom is exclusively designed for the female property owner. In contrast to the black and white color design chosen for the living room, a cozy and dreamy pink series are selected for the bedroom. A wall shelf is installed along the footboard to display different soft toys. Since there is already a storeroom available, no additional cabinet are installed to increase more storage spaces. To prevent the bedroom from getting overcrowded, the designer skillfully adds a large closet right along the wall and a big platform right underneath the bed. Among all the household renovation, the bathroom is remodified the most. “Originally, the bathroom is very small,” the designer explains, “but after adjusting the kitchen, the bathroom is getting bigger. We can now place a bathtub, a bath cubicle and even a washing machine into the bathroom.”
